The DC-DC controller max output is 500 mA. However, the circuit on the secondary side must also be supplied with that power which is about 90 mA.
If you need more current, you must use the AUX port. This is galvanically connected to the secondary side.

I doubt that this cable (I mean that one that doesn't work reliable) is even USB 2.0 compliant.

I have observed this with several hub products and I don't know why this happens. What I also observed that those hubs worked fine with 7055-D.

The USB signal is always bidirectional. There is no need to alter the orientation of the isolator regardless of the purpose of the final device.

I am not aware of a bug like this but please contact our customer support directly with your serial number. They will check if you probably run an outdated firmware version.

We have already all workarounds implemented that can be done without becoming incompatible to standard devices. These handshake issues with some DACs cannot be fixed without enumaration + extra buffers (like a hub does).

The blinking lights show that the 7054 is stuck in Full Speed mode and didn't reveice a proper reset from the DAC. Placing a hub in between should help. Because a hub can simply switch modes after a timeout while the 7054 with its two isolation sides must rely on proper signalling on both sides.

I suggest that you order one unit and test it. You can send it back for a refund if you run into issues.
I recommend 7055-D if you are also using USB 3.0-3.2. If you just need USB 2.0 Hi Speed at your end points, the cheaper 7055-B would do. They share the same 2.0 isolation circuit.

This is recoreded correctly.
While 7055-B and 7055-D have an identical linear regulation circuit, the 7055-C is tweaked to get lower noise at audio frequencies.

That is very close to be a snake oil product. Based on lacking knowledge on EE and physics of a typical audio enthusiast (which is ok), this is money down the drain (and not ok).

Hi Chris,
I had a deeper lock into this back in 2016. It pointed out that the XMOS chip they use has an outdated firmware with known USB compatibility issues. I contacted Mutec and offered help but never received an answer.

It's interesting to me that your DAC's THD+N measures less than 0.0001%. This is below -120 dB which is not only remarkable but to my knowledge certainly beyond physical limits, even at a BW of 20 kHz. Would you mind sharing more details about this? It just sounds awesome!
