Isolate an external HDD ? Topic is solved
Isolate an external HDD ?
Would these isolators work and possibly have audible benefits to isolate an external (USB) storage 3.5" HDD in powered case (normally are 12v) from the playback PC? If so, any requirements/recommendations for system setup?

Re: Isolate an external HDD ?
As long the 12V for the external HDD is a separate, galvanically isolated supply, I don't see any benefit in isolation. An isolator would be more a protection barrier here.
But if the 12V HDD supply is maybe an audiophile style linear supply that is shared to power different devices, you will easily run into a ground loop. This could affect data integrity and isolation will cure this. I recommend then using USB 3.0 compatible isolators like 7055-C and 7055-D.
